LiPo Battery

In this category, I will list the best LiPO batteries for drones also I will test and review couple of them.

Li-Po Batteries for RC controlled drones and quadcopters

A lithium polymer battery (commonly knows as LiPo, LIP, Li-poly, and others), is a rechargeable battery of lithium-ion technology using a polymer electrolyte instead of a liquid one. Where weight is a critical feature, Li-Po batteries are an excellent choice.

Most important LiPo battery brands and manufacturers:

  • ChinaHobbyLine (CNHL);
  • Ovonic;
  • Tattu;
  • GensAce;
  • Auline;
  • ZOPBattery;
  • Zippy
  • Giant Battery;
  • InfinityLiPo;
  • Floureon;
  • Turnigy;
  • Nano-Tech;
  • Multistar Racer;
  • Rhino;
  • Dinogy;
  • GaoNeng GNB;
  • Hyperion.

According to the number of cells, you can find 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, 6s, and 7s Li-Po batteries. The 3s and 4s are commonly used by racing drone quadcopters.

Note: Li-Po batteries are highly explosive, charge them only with a proper charger!!!

ManiaX Power 4S FPV LiPo review

ManiaXPower FPV LiPo
Before we get into details in our ManiaX Power FPV LIPO review, let's talk about some general things you should consider before purchasing a drone battery. When choosing a drone LiPo, the first things to look at are cell count, capacity, and C-rating. Cell count (xS) is how many cells are connected in series inside the pack. Each cell has...

CNHL LIPO battery review: Black & MiniStar series

China Hobby Line LIPO batteries review
Looking for the best LIPO battery for your FPV drone? You should definitively check our CNHL LIPO battery review. We tested some packs of ChinaHobbyLine's Black and MiniStar series. CNHL 4S 2000mAh & 6S 1500mAh: Long-range FPV LIPOs

CNHL 4S 2000mAh and 6S 1500mAh LIPO batteries
For long-range FPV flights, you will need much higher capacity batteries than for freestyling and racing. Commonly, 5" LR FPV drones run on 4S or 6S batteries. You must choose the right battery according to your motor's KV ratings. For example, the CNHL 4S 2000mAh is an excellent option for 2000-3000KV, and the CNHL 6S 1500mAh for 1600-1900kV. The...

Tattu FunFly LiPo review: Perfect for daily practice

Tattu FunFly LIPO review
GensTattu recently launched a new product line, called "FunFly". Unlike the "R-Line", it is available only in 4S version and with two capacities. Both, FunFly 1300mAh and FunFly 1550mAh are 100C rated. In the past, we already reviewed couple of Tattu LiPos, including the R-Line HV 1550mAh 100C and now it's time to have a closer look on the new Fun Fly...

FIMI X8 SE battery: More fun time!

FiMI X8 SE spare battery
Xiaomi recently announced the latest 4K model, the FiMI X8 SE drone. Compared to its predecessors, it foldable design and lots of new advanced functionalities. The advertised battery life of the FIMI X8 SE is a maximum of 33 minutes in optimum conditions. This is the best flight time we've seen to date from a consumer drone under $500. The...

Fullsend 6S 6000mAh Li-Ion: Holy Grail of long range FPV

FullSend LR 6S 6000mAh Li-ION battery
Lithium-ion or Li-ion batteries generally have a higher energy density than other battery chemistries, including LiPo. This means that Li-ion packs can store more energy in the same physical size, allowing longer flight times and increased range. For example, by comparison, the iFlight Fullsend 6S 6000mAh weighs just 608 grams, and a LIPO battery with the same power weighs...

CNHL LI-ION 4S 3200mAh: For Long-Range and not-so!

CNHL LI-ION 4S 3200mAh review
Initially, LI-ION battery packs for long-range drones were homemade by hobbyists. They connected 4 or 6 cells serially to achieve the desired voltage. Sony VTC6 18650 batteries were used the most due to their excellent reliability. Panasonic and Samsung LI-ION proved to perform well also. In this review, we will have a closer look at the CNHL LI-ION 4S...

2s vs 3s LiPo battery: Which one is better for mini FPV drones?

GensAce Tattu 2s vs 3s LiPo comparison
Last week, I received two Li-Po batteries for review from Gens Ace. The Tattu 2s 800 mAh and Tattu 3s 450 mAh. Firstly, I thought about making an individual test of each battery, but later I found it more helpful to make a side-by-side comparison of them. Both Li-Po batteries suit micro-class FPV drones like the Blade Torrent 110 and...

We will have a closer look at two of their green 1300 mAh 100C LIPO packs (4S and 6S). Testing LIPO...

Crazepony 500mAh 2S LIPO review: Brushless Whoop battery

Crazepony 2s 500mAh review
About a month ago I received two pieces of Crazepony 2S/500mAh LiPo packs for review. Unfortunately, due to ESC failure, my FullSpeed TinyLeader was stuck on the ground so I had to wait with the battery performance tests till I repair it. As most Power Whoops are sold without battery, first thing you need to do prior to your flight...

Tattu R-line battery review: 95C, more punch for your drone

Tattu R-Line 4s 1300mAh Li-Po battery review
Frankly, being my first Li-Po review, I didn't know how to start it. I took the Tattu R-line 4s 1300 mAh battery in my hand several times hoping for inspiration. Nothing, it was like holding a banal brick. Then, I realized that without the Li-Po technology drones could have not evolved this fast. The biggest advantage of lithium polymer...
