CSJ S166 entry level GPS enabled drone

Weighing just 202 grams, featuring onboard 4K camera and foldable design you could believe that the CSJ S166 is a great and affordable Mavic Mini alternative. The biggest advantage of this drone is the brushed motors which are less reliable than the MINI’s brushless motors.

The CSJ S166 is available with 3 types of on-board cameras. Two versions are featuring 5G WIFI video transmission and one 2.4G FPV.

According to the advertised specs, the 1300mAh flight battery allows up to 20 minutes of airborne time, which is 10 minutes less compared to the Mavic Mini.

Thanks to the GPS assisted fail-safe RTH feature, the drone will autonomously return to the take-off point if the flight battery is near empty or communication is lost with the remote controller. Auto return-to-home can be manually engaged as well.

  1. I have a CSJ S166 drone that I need a replacement controller for. Which controller do you recommend? Also, how do I configure the new controller with the drone?

  2. The problem with the CSJ S166 drone is that it will fly in WiFi only mode without warning. I lost mine to wind on my second flight.
It was a hot day, Sun overhead and sweat in my old eyes. I thought I’d calibrated the GPS correctly but couldn’t see if the lights on the drone indeed indicated the GPS was calibrated in the bright sunlight. Due to the wind I set it to the faster speed. I flew it around at low level ok but when I went above the tree line it began to drift with the wind So thinking it was pointing towards me I pressed forward and it zipped away over the trees. I ran behind the trees and could see it very high and far away so I moved the joystick left, right, left, right but due to the lag in the WIFI the drone was actually going opposite my movements making me think it was pointing away from me. I pulled back on the stick and it just flew away because it was actually pointing at me.
TIP: Straight out of the box with ANY drone, put your name address and phone number on the drone or save a small file on the drones SD card with this information. DO BOTH!
