DJI Avata 360 Day-One Firmware Update – What You Need to Know

FPV Remote Controller 3, Panorama Stitching Calibration, Added automatic detection for cycling and skiing subjects in FocusTrack, and more!

DJI Avata 360 firmware update released on March 27, 2026 shown on RC 2 controller screen

Just one day after we published our Avata 360 review, DJI rolled out the first firmware upgrade, which is advertised as a feature update rather than a bug-fix release. One of the most important changes in firmware version v01.00.0100 is the added support for the FPV Remote Controller 3. However, despite the excitement around this update, the DJI Avata 360 still does not offer a true manual mode.

When I performed ActiveTrack tests while riding my bike, I noticed that the Avata 360 could have been faster. I also didn’t understand why I had to switch between Normal and Cycling mode. This software upgrade addresses both of those issues by adding automatic cycling and skiing subjects in FocusTrack. DJI has also increased the maximum horizontal flight speed in Sport mode to 18 m/s, a noticeable boost that makes the Avata 360 more competitive for dynamic action shots.

In the case of major firmware releases, you usually need to update the entire ecosystem. After upgrading the DJI Fly app, I also had to update the Avata 360 and the RC-2 firmware. Interestingly, the flight batteries didn’t require any updates this time.

What’s New in the Avata 360 Firmware Update (March 2026)

  • Added support for DJI FPV Remote Controller 3.
  • Added Panorama Stitching Calibration.
  • Added automatic detection for cycling and skiing subjects in FocusTrack.
  • Added 2.7K 60/50/48/30/25/24fps video options in Single Lens mode.
  • Increased the maximum horizontal flight speed in Sport mode to 18 m/s.
  • When using head tracking with the goggles in 360° mode, improved tracking response latency and
    added roll angle control.
  • Optimized the display of the tilt angle in the flight view when using FocusTrack > Spotlight > Free
mode, allowing it to move up and down following the flight direction.
  • Optimized the playback experience of 8K30 and above panoramic videos in Free View mode with
    goggles by reducing latency.
