DJI Osmo Nano vs Insta360 GO Ultra & 3S: The Mightiest Tiny Action Camera

Comparison of DJI Osmo Nano and Insta360 GO Ultra & 3S wearable action cameras with specs and features 2025

With the recent release of the Osmo Nano and Osmo 360, it’s clear that DJI is pursuing an aggressive marketing strategy and is aiming for a share of Insta360’s market. Initially, DJI targeted GoPro, and their approach proved successful, as GoPro’s sales dropped significantly while the Osmo Action series gained popularity. In this article, we put the DJI Osmo Nano head-to-head with the Insta360 GO Ultra and 3S to see whether a newcomer can claim the title of Best Tiny Camera of 2025.

These tiny action cameras are amazing for capturing high-quality video and photos without carrying a bulky setup. I use them all the time on my FPV drones — they’re super light, so they don’t affect flight performance, but still give really immersive footage. One thing to keep in mind is that they don’t have a screen built into the camera itself; the display comes only with the extra accessory, like the charging dock or Action Pod, which also keeps it safe and charge.

With the DJI Osmo Nano being $100 cheaper than its competitor, it’s clear that they want to convince those who love this technology to make the switch. The hardware inside is also promising, featuring a 1/1.3-inch image sensor and the capability of recording 4K@60fps videos.

The DJI Osmo Nano and Insta360 GO Ultra are very similar in performance and weight, but they feature different form factors. While the GO Ultra has a square shape, the Osmo Nano is rectangular, giving it a look more like the GO 1–3S series.

Side-by-Side Specs: DJI Osmo Nano vs Insta360 GO Ultra & 3S

In the table below, I’ve compared the ten most important specs of tiny action cameras. As you can see, the Insta360 GO Ultra stands out in three key areas, the DJI Osmo Nano leads in two, while the Insta360 GO 3S takes the crown in just one.

When choosing the right camera for your needs, I recommend starting with this table as a reference point. For example, the Osmo Nano offers the longest battery life and the most budget-friendly price, making it a great balance of performance and value. Meanwhile, the Insta360 GO Ultra shines with its 2.5-inch flip screen built into the Action Pod, plus it packs the largest image sensor and the highest photo resolution of the three.

On the other hand, if weight is your top priority, the GO 3S remains the lightest 4K action camera available right now, making it the best option for ultra-portable setups and FPV drones.

While the Insta360 GO Ultra uses removable storage, supporting microSD cards up to a massive 2TB, the Insta360 Go 3S and DJI Osmo Nano have built-in storage of either 64GB or 128GB.

All of these cameras, in standalone mode, are waterproof up to 10 meters (33 ft) right out of the box, making them ideal for snorkeling, poolside fun, or unexpected rain. Their companion accessories—the Vision Dock and the Action Pod—are both IPX4-rated for splash resistance, so you don’t have to worry about using them in the rain or snow.
