Mavic Air 2 combo vs standard: Is It Worth It?

Mavic Air 2 fly more combo vs standard pack

Like most DJI drones, the new Mavic Air 2 was also announced in two variants, “Standard” and “Fly More Combo”. Let’s find out what you get for the extra 189 bucks!

Both Mavic Air 2 box options come ready-to-fly with an included remote controller. As you can guess, the “Fly more combo” is dedicated to those who need extended flight time. Combo comes with 3 flight batteries and one charging hub which allows to charger 3 batteries in a sequence. This configuration will allow you to fly close to 100 minutes in a row. Combo also includes 3 extra pairs of spare propellers, a pack of ND filters, and a shoulder bag. Furthermore, it also includes a power bank adapter, which turns your Mavic Air 2 battery into a veritable power bank. In contrast, the “Standard” option comes with the bare necessities to get flying – it doesn’t even include a memory card for recording.

Mavic Air 2 Fly More Combo box

Bottom line

The math shows that going with a combo pack you will make a good deal. Paying just $189 more you will get accessories in value of $455, this is a saving of $266! Of course, combo fits especially for those who will use their Air 2 more than once in a week.

On the other hand, if you are only an occasional drone user, I think the standard pack will be just fine for you. There is no sense to invest in extra batteries or a multi-battery charging hub. Based on my experience, the only thing you will need is the shoulder bag which allows you to conveniently store and transport your Air 2 Mavic drone.

  1. Got a Mavic Air 2 Combo for Christmas. Still not used or activated. BestBuy wants about $300 for 2 years of accidental insurance. Is the cheaper DJI Care Refresh a better route to go? Thanks

  2. I got an MA2 fly more combo for Christmas but cannot activate it in the mobile app (iOS). The error code 1112 comes up saying it is prohibited. Very frustrating!

  4. What’s the going rate for a used Mavic Air 2 fly more combo? I have literally no time to fly mine and want to list it for a fair price. Flown 10 times and it still has 6 months of warranty.

  5. I need some advice from you guys.
    I am trying to see how worth it the Mavic Air 2 Fly More Combo package over the standard box. I’m curious, which accessories out of the ‘Combo’ package ends up being actually useful, and which ones turn out to be useless.

    1. Extra batteries
    2. Car Charger
    3. Charging Hub + Power Bank Adapter
    4. Aditional spare propellers;
    5. Shoulder bag;
    6. Micro SD Card;
    7. Landing Pad PRO for;
    8. Landing Gear Extension;
    9. ND filters.

    Any feedback appreciated :)

  10. I’m the hwappy owner of the Mavic Air 2 Combo. I’m also hobbyiest photographer and I need a bigger bag to take my quadcopter and my photo gear in the same bag. 11. I just bought a mavic air 2 combo from Amazon. But they don’t offer dji care. So how can I get dji care for my drone. any ideas ?

    • DJI Care Refresh can be ordered directly from DJI, and as I know you need to activate it within 48 hours after the AIR2 has been activated.

  12. Question for all the Mavic Air 2 owners. What are some accessories you have for the Mavic Air 2? I bought the Fly More combo edition What other accessories should I buy for safety and better camera performance?

    • ‘Combo’ box includes pretty much of the accessories you need. I would be investing only in a landing pad (if you can’t catch it by hand), variable ND filters and car charger.

  13. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I really appreciate your efforts in making things clear! Now, I know that the combo is the best bang for your money!

  14. Last week, I Ordered a Mavic Air 2 Fly More Combo from DJI. So far only thing that has happened is a shipping label was created. Is this normal? There is any delay in sipping because of COVID-19?

  15. I ordered the Mavic air 2 fly more bundle and one of the batteries can’t be charged of the box…. Do I need to send back everything for replacement, or just the bad battery?
    Thank!

  16. Just ordered mine. I opted for fly-more combo at the DJI store today. Can’t wait to test the 8K hyper-lapse mode

  17. Hi Greg, I’m from Lancaster, I ordered standard Mavic Air 2 (£769) from DJI store on June 4 and it arrived on June 12. I think it is a good delivery time!
    Don’t forget about the “Care refresh” service, it is only £79 and it will give you free replacements if something goes wrong with your drone…
    Remember: It needs activated within the last 48 hours!!!

  18. Hi,

    I want to order a Air 2 Combo, how fast DJI delivers? I’m in the UK and I think they would be the best option for me…

  19. None of them are real alternatives. For its price, the Mavic Air 2 is a technology marvel! It comes with far the best battery life and range in its price tag!!!
    I instantly sold my old FIMI X8SE and placed the order for Air 2, hope to arrive soon
    I will keep you updated with a short review after arrived
