K&F Concept 99Wh Battery – Compact Power for Filmmakers and Beyond

High-power V-battery with 100W output to charge and run all your gear, including cameras, laptops, and drones

As a drone enthusiast, I always chase longer flight times, reliable power, and gear that keeps up with my adventures. While most of us are used to standard USB power banks, stepping up to professional filmmaking gear means stepping into the world of V-Mount batteries. The K&F Concept 99Wh V-Mount Battery with a massive output of 100W can power and charge everything from cameras to laptops, and even drones, all in one compact unit. I’ve spent some hands-on time testing it. In this review, I’ll share how it performs in real-world scenarios—covering charging speed, connectivity, and usability—so you’ll know if it’s the right portable power companion for your gear.

V-Mount batteries have long been a staple in the film and broadcast industry, powering cinema cameras, LED panels, and wireless transmitters with reliable, high-capacity energy. Their signature “V” locking plate ensures a secure, wobble-free connection, even on shoulder rigs or fast-moving setups. Unlike standard power banks, V-Mounts deliver stable, high output through professional-grade ports like D-Tap, BP, and DC, while often supporting hot-swapping to keep production uninterrupted. They come in a variety of capacities to suit different needs—from smaller 50Wh-99Wh units for lightweight rigs to high-capacity 300Wh+ batteries for extended shoots—making them versatile for filmmakers, photographers, live event crews, and even drone operators who need dependable power in the field.

The K&F Concept 99Wh V-Mount Battery uses automotive-grade, rechargeable lithium cells, ensuring reliable and consistent power delivery. Its robust design and versatile output suit a wide range of equipment, from hobbyist gear and drones to high-end professional cinema cameras such as ARRI and RED.

K&F Concept 99Wh V-Mount power bank review

Disclosure: I received this V-mount battery for a product review collaboration with K&F Concept. Product specs and quality may vary according to the manufacturer’s reliability, so I cannot guarantee that you will get a product that performs the same as in my article.

Last month, along with the Insta360 X4 batteries, I received this 99Wh V-Mount battery. I have to admit that I don’t yet have compatible equipment, and my initial plan was to test it as a regular power bank, primarily for charging my photography and drone gear in the field. The battery comes in the box with a high-quality 240W-rated USB Type-C power cable and an instruction manual.

Unboxing the K&F Concept V-Mount battery with included 240W Type-C cable and user manual

The K&F Concept 99Wh V-Mount measures approximately 4.2″ x 2.9″ x 2.2″ or 108mm x 76mm x 57mm, and it weighs 1.39lbs (630g). It is roughly 50–150 g heavier than low-cost plastic V-batteries with comparable capacity. Inside the aluminum and fireproof PC housing is a high-grade lithium-ion (Li-ion) cell pack rated at 14.8V/6700mAh, delivering a total capacity of 99Wh. I received the orange/army green variant, but a sleek silver edition is also available for those who prefer a more minimalist look.

The front of the V-mount battery features a premium black finish. Its hidden multicolor OLED display becomes visible only when the unit is powered on.

The image above shows that the display is divided into five rows. The top row indicates the total power output and remaining battery level (in percentage). The next three rows display the status of the USB ports, while the bottom row provides information about the DC output. For each output, you get a detailed view of the voltage and power consumption, which is extremely useful for monitoring device load in real time and avoiding overdraw when powering multiple devices simultaneously.

On the back, under the V-shaped mounting system, an LED can be turned on by long-pressing the power button. It isn’t too bright, but it can be handy for finding items in a dark backpack. Soft rubber flaps protect all the connectors from dust and moisture.

K&F Concept 99Wh V-Mount Battery: Inputs and Outputs

To ensure compatibility with both professional and hobbyist multimedia equipment—such as cameras, laptops, phones, drones, lights, and monitors—the K&F Concept 99Wh V-Mount Battery provides a versatile range of outputs:

  • USB Type-C (C1): up to 100W (PD)
  • USB Type-C (C2): up to 65W (PD)
  • USB-A: up to 24W (QC)
  • DC Barrel Port: 12V / 3A
  • D-Tap Port: 14.8V / 12A
  • 7-pin BP Interface: 14.8V / 12A (max)

The BP/D-Tap and 100W Type-C ports are bidirectional, allowing the unit to supply and receive power. With a 100W PD charger, the battery can be recharged from 0% to 100% in just two hours.

Pricing, availability, and color options

The K&F Concept 99Wh V-Mount battery is priced at nearly $1 per watt-hour, which makes it roughly twice as expensive as a standard power bank with a similar capacity. This higher cost is not accidental—V-Mount batteries are designed for professional use and rely on high-quality lithium cells, advanced safety electronics, and multiple output interfaces (such as D-Tap, USB-C PD, and DC ports) to power various demanding equipment. They are also built to meet airline compliance standards (under 100Wh), making them a reliable choice for filmmakers and traveling creators.

In addition to the 99Wh model, available in two color options (army green and silver) and priced at $109.99, K&F Concept also offers a more compact 50Wh version (available in silver), priced at $79.99. This version is ideal for lighter setups or as a backup power source.

Estimated Runtime and Charging Capacity of the K&F Concept 99Wh V-Mount Battery

When considering using a V-Mount battery like the K&F Concept 99Wh, one of the most important questions is: how much real-world usage can you actually expect from it? Since different devices have very different power demands, the actual runtime or number of charges will vary. To give a clearer picture, here’s an estimation of how long this 99Wh battery could power or recharge some commonly used gear, from cameras and drones to laptops and smartphones. It can simultaneously handle 5V USB, 5V-20V PD Type-C, 12V, and 16.8V devices, allowing it to power everything a videographer might need.

K&F Concept 99Wh: Alternatives

To be honest, until the end, K&F Concept isn’t the brand that invented V-mount batteries. They were developed by Anton/Bauer, a company that has pioneered professional video power solutions since the 1960s. They introduced the “V-Mount” standard (also called the V-Lock system) in the 1980s for broadcast and film cameras.

In 2024, K&F Concept released its first V-mount battery, aiming to establish its position in a competitive market alongside well-established players such as FXLion, SmallRig, NEEWER, FirstPower, and ZGCINE.

While SmallRig is known for its compact (VB99 3580 and 4292) cine-focused V-Mount solutions—often favored by independent filmmakers who value portability—FXLion has built a strong reputation in the film industry for its high-capacity (up to 559Wh) FX series V-Mount batteries. As direct competitors to the K&F Concept 99Wh, I would mention the Moman Power 99 Pro, SmallRig VB99 Pro, ZGCINE ZG-X99, and the NEEWER PS099S.
