Along with the latest Hero 13 action camera, GoPro introduced a new Enduro battery with improved performance but at a more expensive price, like most OEM accessories. That’s where third-party alternatives come in. In this review, we’re taking a closer look at the K&F Concept Hero 13 battery combo with the included charger to see if it matches the originals’ performance.
The original GoPro Hero 13 Enduro battery has a 1,900 mAh capacity (up from the previous 1,720 mAh) and promises longer runtimes in all conditions—from hot to freezing temperatures. Officially, a fully charged battery allows up to 2.5 hours of recording at 1080p@30fps, or over 1.5 hours at 4K@30fps and 5.3K@30fps. The K&F Concept Hero 13 battery offers a slightly higher capacity of 2,100 mAh and is expected to deliver similar performance. However, real-world battery life is often shorter, depending heavily on resolution, frame rate, ambient temperature, and features such as Rocksteady stabilization or GPS. It’s also important to note that during extended 4K or 5.3K recording sessions, the camera tends to overheat—particularly in warmer environments—which can cause it to shut down automatically before the battery is fully depleted.
I use the GoPro Hero 13 primarily mounted on FPV drones for cinematic footage. In my case, having spare batteries isn’t essential. However, if you’re filming all day on the slopes, capturing underwater adventures, or working on a multi-location shoot, a single battery just won’t cut it. Spare batteries ensure you never miss a shot due to low power and let you keep recording without being tied to a charging cable or wall outlet.
K&F Hero 13 Black Battery Charger Combo Review
Disclosure: I received this Hero13 battery combo for a product review collaboration with K&F Concept. Product specs and quality may vary according to the manufacturer’s reliability, so I cannot guarantee that you will get products that perform the same as in my article.
Many GoPro-compatible batteries are on the market, especially from Chinese manufacturers. Some perform surprisingly well, but others can be unpredictable in terms of performance or lifespan. If you care about reliability and want good customer support in case something goes wrong, it’s better to stick with a reputable brand like K&F Concept—even if it’s not always the cheapest.
Last week, alongside the Insta360 X4 batteries, I also received a Hero 13 battery and charger combo kit, packaged in a box with the same familiar K&F Concept orange design. The kit includes three batteries, a compatible charger, and a USB to Type-C cable that allows you to charge via a USB adapter, power bank, phone charger, car charger, or computer.
The batteries are the same size and shape as the original ones, so loading them into my GoPro Hero 13 was no issue. They weigh about 32 grams, making them 1 gram lighter than the OEM ones. A sticker on the side shows the nominal voltage (3.89V), capacity (2100mAh), and maximum power (8.17Wh). They arrived about half-charged (55–57%), ideal for long-term storage.
The kit’s highlight is the 3-slot charging station, which allows you to charge three batteries simultaneously. Featuring a magnetic flap, it doubles as a storage case and can hold two microSD cards. Each channel has its charging indicator LED, and the charger features a USB port for convenient power input. It offers built-in protection for overcharging, short circuits, overheating, and power surges.
Price and availability
During the “Prime Day Deals“, you can grab this triple-battery pack with an included charger for just $45.99 directly from the K&F Concept online store. Considering that just one OEM Hero 13 Enduro battery costs $34.99, it’s definitely a bargain.
Key takeaways:
- 3-in-1 travel-friendly design: The K&F Hero 13 Enduro battery charger set combines charging, battery storage, and SD cardholder into one compact unit, ideal for camera bags and travel use.
- Extended recording time: 3-pack Enduro Hero 13 batteries deliver similar runtime to OEM batteries, tested around 1 hour at 5.3K@60fps.
- Smart 3-slot LED charger case: It charges three batteries simultaneously in about 3 hours via USB-C. The Hero 13 Black battery charger has independent LED indicators (red for charging, green for full) for real-time status.
- Advanced safety protection: The K&F Hero 13 batteries are CE, FCC, and RoHS certified, featuring built-in safeguards against overcharging, short-circuiting, overheating, and power surges. Fire-resistant battery structure for extra safety.
K&F Concept Hero13 battery and charger performance
While testing battery life, I used a cooling fan because the Hero 13 Black kept shutting down after 30 to 40 minutes of recording at the highest settings due to overheating. This seems to be a common issue with GoPro action cameras and other brands, as they push the hardware to its limits. With the fan on, I could keep it running longer and better understand how the battery actually performs.
During the few occasions I’ve used them in real-life scenarios, they performed just like the original ones, and so far, there’s been no puffing or other issues. I will come back with more impressions regarding their performance after testing them during the winter in cold conditions.
I don’t have a genuine GoPro charger to make a comparison, but I have read that it can fully charge one battery in less than two hours using a 30W USB adapter. The K&F Concept Hero 13 charger is significantly slower, as it took more than three hours to charge the battery from 1% to 100%. I should also mention that the GoPro dual-slot charger features a four-LED charging level indicator, not just a single status LED.
GoPro Hero 13 Battery vs. K&F Concept Hero 13 Battery — Comparison Table
In actual FPV use, I didn’t notice any significant performance differences between the GoPro Hero 13 and K&F Concept Hero 13, although the second one is more price-friendly — especially if you’re on a budget. During my tests, the runtime was very similar. In frigid temperatures, the OEM battery might offer better performance, but for regular use, the price difference isn’t justified, in my opinion. Check out the table below for a side-by-side breakdown.

Backwards compatibility with Hero 10, Hero 11, and Hero 12?
The GoPro Hero 13 Black introduces an upgraded 1,900 mAh Enduro battery, offering about 10% more capacity than the 1,720 mAh version used in the Hero 10, 11, and 12. This extra capacity has altered the battery’s size and form factor, breaking the long-standing compatibility tradition that existed within the Hero series until now. The K&F Hero 13 battery is no exception, as it does not offer backward compatibility with the previous models.
