Coming Soon: Potensic Atom 3 – Specs, Features & Release Info

Promotional teaser image for the Potensic Atom 3 drone launch scheduled for June 10.

While the Potensic Atom 3 is scheduled to be officially released on June 10, 2026, there are already a couple of in-depth reviews on YouTube, including unboxings that reveal most of the key specs and features this new model will bring. Many are hoping the Atom 3 will be a solid budget DJI alternative, especially as the company faces partial restrictions in the US, with similar measures potentially following in other countries.

The upcoming Atom 3 will be bundled with the Potensic PTD1 remote controller, featuring a 5.5inch built-in screen that eliminates the need for a smartphone. Equipped with PixSync 5.0, the promised live-view HD video transmission range is up to 16 km (9.94 miles). The rumored images also show the possibility of adding an optional 4G module for extended range. By comparison, the DJI RC 2 controller, featuring the O4 transmission system, reaches up to 20 km (12.4 miles) when paired with the Mini 5 Pro.

The Potensic Atom 3 comes with a 1/1.3-inch sensor, which isn’t impressive compared to its competitors’ camera sensors. The camera is capable of recording smooth 4K footage at up to 60fps, while a dedicated Night Mode allows for improved low-light video capture at 30fps. For still photography, the drone can capture high-resolution images of up to 50 megapixels.

It also features a 4K 2x medium-telephoto mode; however, the zoom capabilities are digital rather than optical. This means that, while it can provide a closer view, image quality may degrade compared to true optical zoom, where the lens physically adjusts to maintain clarity and detail.

The Atom 3’s box shows a flight time of up to 50 minutes, but it’s not clear whether that figure refers to a single battery or to the Fly More Combo package, which usually includes two batteries. Personally, I’m a bit skeptical that a sub-250g drone can remain airborne for 50 minutes on a single charge. That would be an impressive achievement, especially considering that even DJI has yet to reach that level of endurance.

Potensic Atom 3: Key features

  • [8K Photo & 4K HDR Video] With a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, it captures 50MP photos and 4K/60fps HDR videos. The F2.0 aperture and 4-in-1 pixels improve low-light performance, details, and color.
  • [Outstanding 16KM Transmission Range]: Powered by PixSync 5.0, enjoy smooth 1080p FHD video and stable long-distance flights.
  • [AI Track & Smart flight modes] Intelligent tracking technology locks onto subjects for dynamic and creative shots. Free your hands—simply frame your target to access tracking modes: Spotlight, Follow, and Parallel. Featuring Quickshots, Dolly Zoom for dynamic action shots, cruise control, and dynamic HomePoint for a smoother and more effortless flight experience.
  • [New App Potensic Eve] Enjoy an intuitive interface for effortless operation. Flight Record Playback delivers detailed visual logs of your journey, while smart reminders enhance safety and simplicity, ensuring smoother flights. (Requires iOS 15.0 or later, or Android 7.0 or later; Recommended for devices with 4GB+ RAM.)

Bottom line

Back in 2024, I reviewed the first-generation Potensic ATOM, which was an excellent entry-level drone but still far behind the DJI Mini 4 Pro’s capabilities at that time. I can see some evolution with the Atom 3, but it still lacks advanced features such as omnidirectional obstacle avoidance, a LiDAR sensor, and a true vertical shooting camera.
