From the very beginning, I should point out that the new GX15 series is not the successor to the RadioMaster TX15, which I reviewed on FirstQuadcopter last year. Instead, RadioMaster has taken a more compact approach, with the LCD positioned on top of the radio, somewhat reminiscent of the budget-friendly Zorro. As with several other RadioMaster transmitters, the GX15 comes in two versions: the base model features V6 Hall Sensor Gimbals, while the MAX edition steps things up with AG02 CNC aluminum Hall Gimbals.
Like all new radios, the RadioMaster GX15 comes with an onboard dual 2.4GHz ELRS (Gemini) transmitter. It uses 250mW SX1281 transceivers and supports ultra-fast ExpressLRS update rates, including F1000 operation with compatible receiver systems. Of course, if you prefer a different radio protocol, this is also possible through the external JR bay.
Both models of the series measure about 178*168*81mm and weigh 725g (without battery). The GX15 series can be powered by a wide range of batteries, from 7.4V 2-cell Lithium-Polymer to two 3.7V 18650 or 21700 5000mAh Lithium-Ion cells. A smart battery management circuit improves efficiency and extends operating time.
The interchangeable shoulder switch modules give pilots the freedom to customize the controls to their preferences, including replacing standard switches with momentary buttons. The built-in gyroscope adds even more control options, allowing tilt-based functions to trigger logical switches, control gimbal movement, or activate telemetry voice prompts—all without the need for additional hardware.
GX15 vs GX15 MAX Comparison Table
Both versions have the same design and dimensions, but RadioMaster opted for a different color scheme. The TX15 MAX comes in five black versions with differently colored CNC aluminum parts, while the “basic” TX15 is available in blue, red, yellow, green, and white. Both feature the same integrated dual ELRS transmitter module and a 3.5″ IPS 480×320 color display.
The biggest difference between the two models, which will cost you an extra $50, is that the MAX uses premium AG02 CNC aluminum Hall gimbals, while the base model comes with V6 Hall sensor gimbals.
