JJRC X16: Cheap Mavic Mini alternative under 100

JJRC X16 drone under 100

On paper, the JJRC X16 looks like the ultimate Mavic Mini alternative under $100. It claims to have a 6K camera, GPS positioning, reliable brushless motors, and lots of intelligent flight modes. Furthermore, its 2s/1450mAh battery allows up to 25 minutes of flight time. By comparison, the DJI’s smallest foldable drone has 2s/2400 mAh battery and 30 min playtime.

Its 6K camera is capable to take 4800 * 2700 photos and 1920 * 1080 videos, yes the camera is actually only a Full HD camera. Also, it lacks in mechanical stabilization which could result in very shaky footage.

With folded arms, the JJRC X16 measures about 16 x 10.5 x 6.2cm and weighs less than 200 grams. FYI, FAA requires registration for all drones over 250 grams.

Price and availability

Currently, the X16 JJRC drone is available for pre-orders at Bangggood with one battery and storage bag for $95.99. In case you need longer playtime you can also opt for 3 batteries for an extra 20 bucks. There is also an option to choose between black or white color.

  1. IS IT RECORD TO SD CARD? Or just record to app.

I almost pulled the trigger on this one. (Only $90 with 3 batteries and case using banggood points) BUT I don’t see a record to SD card feature. Might be recorded to app only which is a no go.

Right now there are 3 under 250g gps options : MJX B7, Eachine ex5 and the jjrc x16. (Already have the REAL Mavic mini)

I am leaning towards the mjx because it is a proven (reviewed) product. Excellent build quality, reliable, flies great. Long-range flyer (1k) Nice remote. Drawbacks are the camera, short flight time, and short FPV range (200m).

The ex5 looks good on paper but has not been reviewed. If true, the long flight time, FPV transmission range (1km) and Mavic Mini look are pluses. But I don’t like the remote. Also don’t like 150-degree camera (too wide).

The JRCC X16 looks good when it comes to the camera. 120 degree. 6k 25 FPS with built-in quickshots (circle, orbit, follow, zoom). But is there record to SD card? I doubt 1450mah battery will give 25 minute flight time. Probably 18 minutes at best. Wonder what real range is?
