Eachine H8 Mini – Best quadcopter for every beginner
As I remember, I paid $60 for my first multi-rotor. I never thought that a quadcopter can be much cheaper until I found out about this Eachine H8 Mini that costs only $13.99. Yes, I didn’t mistyped the price and yes, the prices includes free shipping. If you don’t believe me you can check by yourself on Banggood’s website.
Before the H8 Mini I tested many other small and micro sized quads and I was very satisficed with them. They are low priced, perfect during the rainy seasons for indoor flights and extremely reliable (of course according to the price I paid for them).
I recommend this type of small quad-copters especially for beginners, because during the first test flights they guaranteed will lose the control over the aircraft and will smash it to the ground. I think for beginner pilots is very important to practice and improve their flying skill without being worried about the value of the quadcopter. Beginners can consider that $13.99 is the price of their first flying lesson :).
Eachine H8 main features:
- Headless flight mode;
- One key return to home;
- Awesome 360 degree flips (stunts);
- Suitable for indoor and outdoor flights;
- Dual flight mode (Low 40% and High 100%);
- LED light for better orientation in low light conditions;
- Very light weight, it has only 20g including the 150mAh battery;
- Play time, around 5-7 minutes.
Eachine H8 Mini review. Cheap drones are also good?
Unfortunately, this Eachine quadcopter is available only in white and black colors, so you can’t ordered it in blue color for your son and red for your daughter. I got a black one, with green painting on the top of the cockpit and white propellers. Frankly, it looks pretty cool for its price and it has most of the latest features like headless mode and one key return to home (BTW, in my opinion the RTH feature is 100% useless).
In the package, besides the small H8Mini quadcopter and its tiny remote controller, you will find a short instruction manual, a screwdriver, a USB battery charger and 2pcs. of spare propellers (A and B). The package also includes 4pcs of tiny self adhesive foam pads that will serve as landing skids.
The propellers have the same color and are marked with letter “A” and “B” for easy replacement. I recommend to order together with this quad at least one set of spare propellers and a spare battery.
The Eachine H8 Mini is ready to fly (RTF) out of the box, you just have to load 3pcs of AAA (micro light) batteries in to the remote controller and connect the Li-Po battery to the main board (there is no power button, so don’t look for it). The binding process is the usual, left stick up and down.
The remote controller may be a little small in my hands, but all the controls can be easily accessed by adults as well as by the youth.
Yesterday, I made some outdoor test flights (latter, I will upload some videos with it to my YouTube channel) and I can say that this H8 Mini has decent flight capabilities. It is very easy to control it, even for beginners, especially with the speed ratio set to 40%. The flight speed can be switched between 40% and 100% pressing the button under the left stick.
I can confirm that the signal-loss protection is working very well. I tried to fly far away from me, when the H8 Mini was out of the range of the transmitter the motors are immediately stopped.
By pressing the left stick like a button you can activate the return to home function. The rolling mode (stunt mode) can be triggered by pressing in the same way the right stick.
If you are interested to give it a try with this inexpensive quadcopter, you can check the availability here. A good tip: you can buy it in combo package together with 5 batteries for only $24.
The Eachine H8 Mini’s user manual can be downloaded from here and I recommend to read it before your first flight. (sorry, it is only in JPG image format).
Our flying club here in Norfolk has occasional indoor flying sessions in a sports hall and several members had these drones flying their last night I think they had three flying at once. The reason why you can do this is the 2.4 GHZ technology employs frequency hopping with the transmitters / receivers constantly changing frequency. – very clever stuff.
Just ordered my H8 mini and batteries from BG today.
I used to have a larger drone 15=inch drone (cost £50) but never could get the hang of that one it was too large for indoor flying and it Seles out side as the gyros were rubbish and useless even in a light breeze. So it’s wait and see My friends at the club were very enthusiastic about the H8 mini one man had bought several!
HI, I want know something. Can we replace the battery and What is the difference between JJRC H8 and Eachine H8, they looks same and have same features. Are they from same company?
By the way I bought a Eachine H8 mini From aliexpress and waiting for it :)
The Eachine H8 Mini is the world’s most affordable quadcopter at only $14 with free shipped, but it has its own shortcomings (short control range and lack of camera).
This 55 year old father of 2 is desperately looking to buy his FIRST drone.
Unfortunately, I’ve never operated anything that is RC so I know I need something easy.
At the advice of someone on an RC forum, I bought a Eachine H8 Mini. I was told its cheap, can take a lot of crashes and if you can fly that one, you could fly ANY one.
So far I can’t even figure that one out … I push the throttle up ever so slowly but still cannot seem to control it. Not sure what I am doing wrong ????
Likely it needs trimming with the small buttons. Place the quad with battery wire facing you and logo kind of pointing away (if considered an arrow). This is the correct orientation and the right hand stick movements will correspond. Take off slowly and note which direction it goes out of control. If forward or back, press the middle small buttons. if left or right, press the one under right stick. Keep pressing these until you can get the quad to take off and stay in the same position.
Mick. Most likely what you need to know is that when the controller “bonds” with the drone, the accellerometers and gyroscopes in the drone all boot up right then, and assume that the surface you have the drone on is dead level. If its not, then the drone will be badly “trimmed” and refuse to hover level.
So plug the drone in first and put it on a table or other dead level surface. Then switch on the controller and try throttling up and down again. If the drone still fly’s sideways instead of hovering you have forward/back and left/right trim buttons beside the right control stick. If the drone is wandering forward, click the vertical trim button st the end closest to you once or twice to correct it. Likewise the left/right trim. The more clicks, the more adjustment. As with all aircraft if you start flying with your machine well trimmed its easy. Otherwise your fighting the controls for stability rather than enjoying flying.
Buy the white one. It has very bright led lights compared to the black. I am 64 yrs old going on 13. I fly this quad several times a day. I had one that I lost over my neighbors roof.
I flew that over 200 times and it was working great. Buy extra props and batteries.
Change props when dented for best flights. I just ordered 12 of these for me and my grandkids.
BUY THE WHITE ONE … BEST FOR NIGHT FLIGHTS!!!
I have a h8 mini quad that I got from BG I lost the rubber feet for the landing gear I asked BG if
They could supply me with them or tell me who makes the quad they said they said they couldn’t do either
I hope you can help me I need at least 2 rubber feet for a H8 Mini Eachine quadcopter
Thank you Gershon Borock
Taken in consideration the shipping price, I don’t know if worth it to purchase landing pads for the H8 mini even if you find out where to order.
I recommend you to improvise something. Probably any piece of rubber will do the job :)
You may find them from aliexpress. I saw many parts for this drone.
Can you fly more then one in the room at the same time. Or do they share the same frequency
I have only one, so I can’t test for you. But I think will work more than one on the same room.
Got two of these……… I’m 51 going on 12 with these. Buy spare props & uprated 260mah battery (couple of quid). Worth it….. great to zip about with. 100% recommend.
Where did you bought the 260mah battery for this? It is a nice idea to improve the fly time. Is it OK to use 260mah battery for this drone?
The link to the manual doesn’t work. Do you think you can post another one or email me a PDF of it? I bought this drone and seem to have lost the manual before even getting to play with it. Thanks in advance
Sorry, link fixed! now you can download the H8Mini’s user manual
