DJI Mavic vs GoPro Karma vs Yuneec Breeze

DJI Mavic, GoPro Karma and Yuneec Breeze selfie drones

I reviewed the FlyPro XEagle, my first selfie drone, a few months ago. Shortly after, two new selfie quadcopters were revealed, the Wingsland S6 and the ZeroTech Dobby.

Until now, the big quadcopter brands have no interest in this market segment. As if they had talked to each other during the last two months, Yuneec, GoPro, and DJI announced their selfie drone quadcopters.

Although Yuneec was the first popular brand to announce a selfie drone, in my opinion, their Breeze quadcopter seems to be the weakest in terms of features and specifications.

GoPro, with their Karma, becomes a new player in the world of quadcopters, which is really great because fierce competition should lead to lower prices.

Unfortunately, we only have slight specifications as the DJI Mavic Pro has just leaked out. Because the images with the DJI Mavic show a very versatile quad with a foldable design, I’m not expecting to be as cheap as the Yuneec Breeze.

Unlike all other selfie quadcopters, the GoPro Karma‘s camera is removable and can be used like a stabilized handheld action camera, which is nice.

According to the manufacturer’s specs, the Karma quadcopter is compatible with the GoPro Hero 4 (Session and Black), GoPro Hero 5 Black, and Hero 5 Session cameras. Just like in the case of the Yuneec 4k, GoPro includes a grip handle that allows comfortable ground usage.

The chart below will be updated as I find new and relevant details about these 3 selfie quadcopters.

  1. DJI, just announced their “Spark”. This will be the real competitor for the Yuneec Breeze.
I read that the DJI Spark have half the price of the Mavic. While both models comes with 4K camera.

  2. GoPro Karma is dead!!!!
The manufacturer calls them back, because they has some performance issue.
The GoPro Karma also has power lost issue during operation, which is worst nightmare of drone pilot.

    • ActionMan, flying above your field of view is totally illegal!!!! BTW, there is a range difference between EU and US (FCC and CE)?

  3. Hi,
Breeze is different category in terms of pricing and ease of use, it’s a real flying camera made for selfie market, 370g with prop guards makes it the safest for first time users.
If still doubt the video and picture quality, go view the replies on Amazon.

  4. Hi,
Please update you table, the DJI Mavic Pro has 1080p (FullHD) real time image transmission!
Also with that it can be controlled through smartphone.

  5. I received the Yuneec Breeze about two weeks ago, it is super light and you can take it with you everywhere. I was impressed with how the propellers and legs fold up.
The drawback of this compact design is that not has a brushless gimbal like the GoPro Karma and the DJI Mavic.

    • Please can you share me some videos recorded with the Breeze. I wan’t to compare it against the GoPro Karma (Hero 5 Black).
      Thanks
