When FirstQuadcopter.com was launched, everything revolved around drones. In those early days, gimbals meant one thing to us: drone camera stabilization. Over the years, we tested a wide range of image stabilization gear — from entry-level gimbals for beginners to professional tools used in commercial productions. Some impressed us with innovation, others taught us hard lessons about marketing hype versus real performance.

Hands-On Testing, Not Just Specs

What defines our gimbal reviews is simple: we test what we write about. We balance the cameras, walk with them, run with them, shoot in wind, low light, and long sessions. We care about battery life, firmware stability, ergonomics, and how a gimbal behaves after hours of use — not just how it looks on paper.

If it didn’t, we said that too.

Testing so many stabilization systems over the years taught us that no gimbal is “perfect” — only right for a specific use case. A lightweight smartphone gimbal excels at travel and vlogging, while a heavy mirrorless rig demands power and precision. Technology evolves fast, but the fundamentals remain the same: balance, motor control, and intelligent software.
